As the Formula One™ teams lined up on the grid at the Circuit of The Americas in the Texan capital Austin last weekend, Clifford Thames enjoyed a high profile perfect high-tech rodeo ride. With its logo adorning the nose of the Marussia F1 Team race cars expectations were high. The Marussia F1 Team, based in the UK, arrived in Austin looking to extract maximum performance and attack the final two races with confidence having put in a lot of homework following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Initially, practice and qualifying didn’t go as well as expected, with a grid place penalty for anF1 Pit Lane USA engine change and then Max Chilton picking up a drive-through penalty for holding up the Williams car. However, an early safety car appearance kept Max close to the pack and keeping his record of finishing in every race – and with Jules Bianci pulling off a great race to get ahead of the Caterhams – the Marussia team left Austin feeling very pleased. Their focus now firmly turns to Brazil in under a weeks’ time to ensure they can achieve a similar result and build on their current 10th place.
Calvin Barnett, Chief Executive Officer of Clifford Thames, said:
“The appearance of the Clifford Thames brand on a global stage such as the Formula One is a momentous occasion for us. It was an absolutely fantastic experience and one that probably won’t happen again in my lifetime. I would like to thank LDC and the Marussia F1 teams for their assistance in making this happen. Marussia F1 are a great team and it’s fantastic to see them continue grow in stature in Formula One™. I fully expect to see this continue into next year which, with the new engine and regulation changes, will without question move Marussia up the grid.”
